Ampersands - a poem by David Wilding

& here is the life & the hope that we bring
& here are the stooks of love that we sing
& here the joy & here the laugther & song
& here the hope for a life that is long.

& here are the people, the smiles & the stage,
& here are their thoughts, so birdlike & vague,
& here the unseen, the dead with their weather,
& here is the future, the cloak of gull,s feather.

& now is the time we give to you & your wife
& bless your waking & the course of your life
& lift up your sad and non-humorous days
& fuel the light to your wandering star.

& when you are happy & dancing with glee
& the sound of our voices is distant & low
think on Gwen and I & the power of our love
& these little ampersands with magic to give.
